What’s in my Makeup Case this Summer and How I am Battling Eczema

Hello people! I hope each of you are having a fabulous week. For so long I have been wanting to share which beauty products I can’t live without this summer and how I overcome my skin condition every day. In 2018, I was diagnosed with eczema, it was a little crazy because I had never had any case of it my entire life until 20 years old! The patches I have are in very odd places, around my eyes, mouth, different spots on my face, legs, and sometimes arms. If you know me, you know I loooove makeup and love to try out different products all the time. My Dermatologist basically told me I had to give my skin a break and stop wearing it to let my skin heal. Stopping cold was a struggle because I was used to putting it on every single day, it has always been part of my daily routine! I think makeup can give a girl a little confidence, and honestly it’s just fun!

I am currently on a cream medication for eczema, and I just have to take it day by day. Some days my skin does great, other days I want to claw it off. I have done lots of research on what products are better for those that have the skin condition, but honestly no makeup is actually good for eczema and that’s a given! I have to remove my makeup each day with 100% organic coconut oil, which keeps my skin as moist as it can. My morning makeup routine starts with heating up a little coconut oil before applying any makeup and massaging it into my face, around my eyes, and around my mouth. My skin usually soaks up most of the oil, so I apply makeup after letting it sit for about 3 minutes. Below is a photo of some of my patches, all of my eczema patches look like this, even on my eyelids. When my patches first started to flare up, I refused to wear dresses or shorts, and only wore pants because I was so self conscious about them. Now I just roll with it, realizing that it is part of life, I am human, and more people have eczema than I ever knew! img_3311img_3310

I don’t use some of the products that I probably should sometimes, usually by the end of the day my eyeshadow has creased and started to come off and under my eyes as well. Lately I have been using L.A. Girl pro matte foundation, usually I cannot wear anything matte, but my skin clings to this well and it does not dry out too fast. It’s also under $10! Linked here: L.A. Girl Pro Matte Foundation! You can also find this foundation at some Ulta’s. I use a tarte loose powder that I have been using for over two years, I like to splurge on powder because I don’t use much so they will last me forever.img_3291

As for eyes, I use something different every day, I never get rid of pallets so I always hold on to them for forever! Since my eczema is pretty severe around and on my eyes, I cannot use brushes to apply eyeshadow, I use my finger tips. Brushes cause product to get under layers of the skin, making the condition flare up worse. Right now I am  really into Essence False Lash Mascara and their liquid eyeliner pens. Essence False Lash Mascara. Essence is seriously the most affordable cosmetics line, and their products are in Ulta! You guys have to try out some of their different mascara’s, the false lash that I have been using works better on me than Better Than Sex Mascara by Too Faced, and I am also spending $16 less with Essence! I loveeee to find deals and affordable makeup products, Tj Maxx is really good about having great brands for great prices, I try to run by there every few weeks to see what’s new and what’s on sale!

RUSH 2018

Hi Friends!

I am so excited about recruitment coming up in just a few short weeks! I have been searching online for some cute dresses for myself and for my zeta sisters that are college budget friendly. I am sharing over fifteen different dress options for recruitment that are all under $30 HOLLLLAAAA!

But on another note, recruitment is in no way shape or form about what girls wear…. and I cannot say this enough! Yes, we all want to look pretty and impress each other, but each one of us knows it is not about that. If I’m being honest, I end up crying half of my makeup off by the end of the day anyways. This is the biggest reason I am sharing more budget friendly options, I don’t think spending tons of money on dresses for rush is a necessity! The links to each dress are attached to their photo. Happy shopping, girls!

Summer Stripes

I have found the cutest little number for summer! This dress is from The Perch on Marble in Rockmart, GA, soooo cute and is under $40! Perfect for my vacation coming up during the week of the 4th, thank the Lawd because my body needs to see the sun real bad! I still wear sunscreen because I am terrified of having wrinkles one day…

We are so excited for an event coming up in July that The Perch is having, called “Fill The Bag!” Each customer will purchase a bag at the door, and fill it with as much merchandise as they can! WHAT A STEAL. The store is filled with clothing, jewelry, shoes, gifts, and home decor. I don’t think one bag will even be enough for me! Search for this event on The Perch’s Facebook page to get all the details and to RSVP.

There are many ways to shop this dress and other cute things that just went on the floor at The Perch! You can simply like their Facebook page and join the insider’s group to see recent merchandise, called The Perch on Marble, follow The Perch on Instagram @theperchonmarble, and you can stay tuned for a brand new website going live on July 1st where we will be able to order straight from there!

(not for my bank account) But most swimsuits are on sale right now! I got a few tops I can mix and match for under $20! Orange Swim Top.  I also grabbed these adorable tassel slides for an upcoming vacation for only $22.99, they are linked here: Tassel Slides.

Mother’s Day Ideas Under $10

Mother’s Day is right around the corner! If your mom is anything like mine, she probably has everything! I have come up with a few little things that are budget friendly that are perfect for mom’s as a little gift on Mother’s Day.

As always, a cute picture frame with a photo of mom and her kiddos in it is a great option and is also a sentimental option as well that never gets old.

I made my weekly Walmart run recently and decided to browse around at some of their new cute summer stuff before leaving and I have to admit that Walmart has definitely stepped it up! I got my mom a tupperware set that was only around $5, there are tons of choices to choose from as well. This is perfect for my mom because she likes to take her lunch to work almost every single day. img_1744.jpg

Right now, succulents and cactuses are so popular! You can’t go wrong with a cute plant for your mom on Mother’s Day because they last forever anyways. Last year, we got my mom a orchid and she still has it sitting in a window, the orchid has even bloomed again since spring has sprung! I got a decent sized succulent for around $4 and put it in a pot I also found at Walmart a little while back on clearance.

Really any flower/plants are a great idea and something mom’s can add to their garden or indoor collection. I personally love indoor plants because they last forever!

The last idea was these cute little house key cap covers from Swank Boutique in Jacksonville, AL! They are only $6 and absolutely adorable. Perfect for mom to start off summer time with happy thoughts! img_1712

Happy early Mother’s Day to all of the special mom’s out there, you ladies run the world!

Lindsay
